FAT-BURNING FOODS

There are some foods which help burn fat. These are foods that basically take more calories to digest and use than the calories they contain. These should be the staple of any weight loss program. You can eat as much as you want (though not with cream, butter or sugar or other high-calorie add-ons)! Now that’s good news isn’t it? They’re a big help for those needing to lose weight!

Several foods are so important they deserve a special mention:

Grapefruit: Several studies have been done on grapefruit and they found that those who ate half a grapefruit with meals or drank 8 ounces of grapefruit juice three times a day lost 4-10 pounds in 12 weeks without dieting.

Nuts: All nuts, but especially almonds have been found to help in weight loss. Some statistics show a loss of 62% more weight, 56% more fat and 50% more from their waistline after 24 weeks compared to those who followed the same diet without almonds. All nuts have omega oils which are very necessary in fat metabolism. A few nuts is only a small handful—don’t overdose on them!

Dairy: Studies have proven that those who consume dairy products lose more weight than those who don’t. Low-fat versions of cheese, milk and yogurt are available but be careful—don’t buy those with extra sugar or you’ll undermine your efforts. And don’t overdo the dairy—it all has some fat!

Green tea and coffee. Both Green tea and coffee have been proven to be helpful fat-burning aids (though bottled drinks with green tea have little of the substance necessary for weight loss so stick to tea you brew yourself). One tip: Brew 4-6 teabags in two cups of boiling water and let set till cold. Throughout the day use as much as you like of the concentrated mixture diluting it with hot water or cold with ice for ice tea. Watch the cream in coffee—make sure you count it when adding up your fat points!
